Psalm 73: Where do you Run? Where do you Hide?
"...I have made the Lord God my refuge,..." (v.28)
When it all becomes
confusing,
when what is good
seems not so
clear,
when wrong seems
like its
winning,
where do you
run
where do you
hide?
When you wonder
if its worth it to
honor
worship
fear
obey,
where do you
run
where do you
hide?
When disappointment
surrounds you
and weariness sets in,
where do you
run,
where do you
hide?
When your soul
is growing
bitter
and you heart is at its
end,
where do you
run,
where do you hide?
When evil seems to
prosper and good suffers
again,
where do you
run,
where do you
hide?
When my flesh is
weak
and my heart may
fail,
there is one thing I have
learned;
You are the only place of
refuge,
You are the only place to
hide.
You are
Counsel
Guidance
Glory
Strength.
I have nothing besides
You.
So in the darkness of
confusion
when I need a place to
hide,
I run to the only place to
hide.
I run to
You.

Mr. Tripp,
My husband and I are in the midst of a trial...our oldest son (12) is rebelling. He is adopted and really struggling to find himself in himself instead of Christ. Thank you for the reminder of the precious Word of God. When the helplessness sets in...He is all we need. Please pray for Joshua.
P.S. I have been in contact with Rick Horne as well and have recently read his book.
P.P.S. Any advice or counsel would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
wow! I have just found your blog ... I love your meditations on the Psalms.
The Psalms have been my life-line, and a blessing to me in good times and bad.
is there some way of subscribing to your blog ... I would hate to miss it.
Dr. Tripp,
I took your Biblical counseling class at Southern and wanted to say thanks for two things: first, your class has really widened my perspective on everything. I continue to read Eugene Peterson and the Bible with a passion. Secondly, thanks for this poem because I am in the midst of a struggle and this really spoke to me. Hope all is well and keep writing. Also, if you have any other recommended reading, I'd love to hear it. I just picked up The Jesus Way and it sounds cool. Blessings....

Thank you for writing this! This also brought to my mind that I wrote about Refuge which is about my kitty-cat, Anselm who took refuge in hiding under the overstuffed chair in the house when I couldn't find her. This happen during a very bad wind storm. I am sure that you would enjoy reading it if you got the time. It is short and with scriptures too.

Thank you for your messages this past weekend at College Church. I especially appreciated your thoughts on a lifestyle of faith based on God as Creator, Sovereign Ruler, and Savior. Wasn't it nice to preach in shorts?
Refuge...when you think of what that actully is and that GOD is that for us....it is so awesome!
Thanks for blogging. I enjoy your thoughts. I am reading War of Words for the second time and am growing so much!
God bless you and have a great day!
